Join The Conversation

Episode 1 - MD & Johnnyjojoshabadoo
He's been providing sporting insight and sporting sports opinions all year long; now he's cranking out the pub-casts! Beaming from the beautiful Coral Cove Resort Bar & Restaurant, the 1/2 hour (ish) episodes cover what's doing in sport each week. I've joined Mike as the side-line reporter and the flavour is unashamedly pro Queensland - pro Australia so some of the content may challenge a few listeners. But hey; that's the point and your opportunity to join the conversation. Tell us what you think. There'll be prizes and auction/raffle items as the show progresses - with proceeds going to local charities, so join in for your chance to win and support. Episode 3 is on tonight.

Tired of the Typical Blow-hards?

There's nothing more frustrating for passionate sports fans than having to contend with inept commentators. You pick a sport broadcast in Australia and I can gurantee that you'll find it more enjoyable with the volume turned right down (it's still good to hear the crowd noises and sound effects). With the digital age you'd think they'd come up with a way to mute the comentary altogether. Anyway's we've just endured another summer of cricket where the same old losers are still behind the mike. Then the footy season starts, (the awsome Qld Reds opened their account in fine style against the Tards) and we have to listen to the pathetic Greg Martin spoil a wonderful come from behind win.
If you're like me and tired of the lameness, tune into SportingSportsOpinions for some fresh analysis.

Better Price Please

Anybody else hanging out for a discount on the 2011 Reds jersey? I see the Wallabies WC one is reduced to $99. Time for the Reds one to be reduced too I think now that the new season's almost upon us. C'mon KooGa; love your gear - your prices... not so much.

What've We Been Watchin'?

This 2006 B grade Horror/Drama/Comedy kept us entertained throughout. Maybe we lost a bit in translation between Korean and English, because at times we weren't sure if we were watching a black comedy or a family drama within a monster movie backdrop. There were scenes/dialogue that made us laugh, others that were sad and others that made us feel the "typical" horror movie suspence, (you know when the protagonist is going to go into the dark spooky cellar to innocently check on the fuse box - except we in the audience know the zombie/axe-murderer/vampire is waiting down there for them type of suspence).
Anyway, the story revolves around a humble family that run a convenience trailer/shop on the banks of a river in Seoul. Their lives are turned upside down when one day a monster, (created from chemical waste - this parts a bit lame), emerges from the depths and starts attacking, eating and capturing people for later consumption. Unfortunately for the family, the youngest member is taken and presumed eaten until she makes an unexpected phone call from somewhere in the local sewer system. Despite the familys best efforts to convince the authorites to help, its ultimatley left up to them to take matters into their own hands to find and rescue her. Maybe catch The Host on World Movies and see what you think.

Taking it to Twitter

So it's probabably time to start posting more. Maybe I can "broaden the broadcast"? I was going to use this post as a test to see if it appears elsewhere. Then I thought I'd write something clever...............

I'm just going to use this as a test.

Where We Been....???

Sooooo... since the last post in October what've we been up to?

Well. In mid November the whole family visited the UAE.....
We managed to fit in a desert safari in Abu Dhabi.

Visited France in December....
Can you guess where we are?

And visited Singapore just before Christmas...
Somebody likes chocolate....

With apologies to 10CC ".... I don't like cricket...."

Who's looking forward to having another Queensland team to support? I enjoy T20 and although the whole experience has been soured a little by the Indian Premier League (IPL), I think this version could be interesting.
We know Aussies are good at organising and holding tournaments.
If this works off the bat (no pun intended), then I think we may see an expansion throughout the region - not just Australia.
I've got a feeling the editor at large over at SportingSportOpinions will have some thoughts to share. Be sure to visit and be enlightened.

Got Goths!

Elliot and Callista are competing (as models) in the International Hair-dressing Show this evening. We've got a photo after make up rehearsals yesterday afternoon.
UPDATE: Very proud to report that the team came in a very close 2nd. (You could say they missed out by a hair!) - see what I did there.
They whole team looked fantastic. The costumes were great. The routine went off without a hitch! Well done.

NoMovember 2011

I said, "...should I do this again since I was so successful last year?"

And my wonderful Wife said... "NO!"

I don't understand. I went through all the stages - cat weasel - cookie duster - the trucker.

It just didn't take with those who count the most so maybe we'll try again in 2012?

Makes sure you visit and support your Bros with Mo's this year.

Top Quatorze

Bad luck to Le Blue for just missing out on winning the RWC 2011. (And from most objective accounts they were unlucky!)
So now its time to move onto the Top 14 French Competition. Hopefully I'll get to see my beloved Stade Francis play later in the year.

What've We Been Playin'?

I hadn't played a Halo game all the way through since the release of the original one. (Gee, that was a long time ago.) I always found that I'd get a bit motion sick playing the subsequent installments, but this time 'round I stuck with it and I'm glad I did.
The game is visually stunning with a fantastic soundtrack. It was very easy to get immersed in the "experience" and I have to admit to being consumed with progressing through the chapters for a couple of weeks there. I found the controls easy to understand (but not always easy to operate - I just wasn't always quick enough to hit the right button). Underpinning the whole thing was an excellent story line. The cut-scenes were meshed into the game play seamlessly. This aspect was so enjoyable, I'd have been happy to just watch someone else play and enjoy the story unfold. It's no wonder that video gaming is over taking motion pictures and television in the art of story telling.

What've We Been Watchn'?

Finally got a chance to watch Tron Legacy on MyStar the other night. Maybe just like me, you have fond memories of the original. It was a warm summer in Perth. School had finished, the holidays had started and Christmas was just around the corner. I'd only heard about this "ace" movie from some of the computer geeks at the time and they raved about it.
Its funny how our knowledge of technology (computers and their applications) has advanced so much since 1982. The original would have to be one of my favourite movies and so I was really looking forward to this installment.
Unfortunately, I watched it after a big day at work - yes it was a Sunday, but you know how it is... (plus I'd actually watched the rugby semi-final with Mike along with a couple of beverages late in the afternoon beforehand). Anyway, I only managed to watch half of it and.... it was really boring; I just couldn't get into it. At the time I didn't know if I'd bother watching the rest, but a couple of days later I did and... I'm happy to say I really enjoyed the second half. Maybe I'll have to watch it all again when I'm not tired and write a proper review.

And how's this going to change the tempreture?

Well done wonkas! This is how you kill a countrys economy.

UPDATE: Fools dancing on their own graves! These mugs want to show some "real" courage and leadership for Australia? Call an election!

Gold Teeth?

So you know how actors/singers seem to always know what's best for us little people cause they're rich & famous right? Well why is it if they're so smart or smarter that us, do they always do things like this?
(By the way, I think this is a dumb protest carried out by useless, lazy, smelly hippies anyway - but you've gotta love the hypocrisy.)
